Alternative Berlin Tour

Welcome to Berlin’s original Alternative Tour — invented by us in 2009, born in Berlin, imitated ever since and the one that made us famous over the world.

From punk rock to techno, politics to squatting culture. From the best street art and graffiti whilst visiting amazing buildings from treehouses to beaches and everything inbetween. From the back streets to the big city. The stories of Berlin’s amazing alternative culture are laid bare.

What to expect?

Journey through the Mitte, Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain districts that pulse with creativity and resistance on our legendary Alternative Berlin tour. Each stop capturing Berlin’s unyielding spirit, from the vibrant street art and murals of Haus Schwarzenberg to the cultural oasis of YAAM beach. Discover the Treehouse on the Wall, a symbol of ingenuity and defiance, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, a hub for contemporary art and the origins of Berlin’s squatting scene.

Visit neighborhoods with local Berlin charm and multicultural flair off the beaten path.

Your guide, deeply connected to the local scene, will share tales of punk rock revolutions, techno’s underground rise, Berlin´s incredible street art and graffiti culture and the squatting movements that redefined urban living.

Review by Toni A. 2024

Great few hours spent with Jake learning the alternative history of Berlin. Time passed very quickly and it was interesting to learn about the city from a different angle. Good recommendations of places to spend more time and revisit, as well as eat and drink.
