Alternative Berlin Top Five For May

Where is this year going? It’s flying by for us, and now that the usual May 1st chaos is over again until next year we’re taking a look at what’s coming up in the capital this month. There’s no rest for the wicked, so once again, here’s our pick of Berlin events for May!

  1. Little Big – White Trash Fast Food – May 7th

Little Big are probably the weirdest band in the world. If you think there is weirder, do let us know. Just Google their videos, two of which are up for awards at The Berlin Music Video awards. If you can’t make this show, they will play that event too (GRETCHEN, May 20th) but grabbing a burger before this night kicks off at White Trash is recommended as the “post soviet rave bomb machine” will probably soak you in vodka and you will be dancing well into the night. This hyper energetic, tanked up visual explosion is an absolute must see. Seriously. Google them now, it’ll make or break your day.

  1. Old Fleas, The Vintage Market – Ballhaus Berlin – May 8th

This promises to be a unique bargain-hunting event, in a historical venue, presented by The Vintage Berlin guide. 2€ at the door gets you access to the “best vintage shopping Berlin has to offer”. As well as clothing and accessories there will also be DJs, performance art, a kids’ corner and activities, food stalls, drinks and much more.

  1. Bite Club –Summer Opening Party – Eichenstrasse 4 – May 20th

Bite club is Berlin’s über successful food truck event. Yup, pick a stunning spot by the Spree and get the cities most exciting food trucks and stalls to park up, let them serve delicious food and drinks whilst DJ’s and musicians set the party vibe, and you have Bite Club. We are seriously glad it’s back after a winter break and can especially recommend the frozen cocktails from the singleton whisky bar. This is a solid event in the Berlin summer party scene, but consider wearing sweatpants because you will eat ALL THE FOOD.

  1. The Lion And The Wolf – Ramones Museum- May 21st

British singer songwriter, The Lion And The Wolf can’t get enough of Berlin. He was only here last month on tour with Bad Ideas, but that’s ok because we can’t get enough of him either. This intimate acoustic concert is also a great chance to check out the Ramones Museum, if you haven’t already. They regularly host shows, and if you’re in the know you might catch an artist playing a small concert here ahead of their headline date the same night.

  1. 30 Jahre Franken – Franken – June 3rd

Ok so this is in June but we thought we’d give you a heads up. Franken is one of our favourite bars, we wrote about it in our guide to Kreuzberg’s most punk rock bars…

and we would never miss its birthday party! Expect fast and loud with plenty of shots! Happy Birthday Franken!

So we’re sure May will fly by too, and there are plenty of other crazy parties and other exciting events happening. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for info and make sure you follow us on Instagram too! We love it when you share your photo’s with us, @alternativeberlin.
