Berlin New Years Run: Jan 1st 2023

What better way to balance out our holiday indulgences than to greet the new year with a 4km run through the heart of Berlin.  The SCC-organized run on New Year’s Day is not a competitive race with timing and an award ceremony, but a very relaxed running event for everyone to enjoy. The route leads from the Brandenburg Gate along Unter den Linden, in a large arc around the Berlin Cathedral, and then back to the Brandenburg Gate. There’s no need to register, everyone is welcome to turn up and take part.

CTM Festival: Jan 27th – Feb 5th 2023

After a two year pause due to the pandemic the CTM contemporary and electronic music festival is back. For over 20 years CTM has aimed to spotlight artists from regions beyond the usual hotspots of electronic and experimental music. The motto of the festival in 2022 – “Contact” – was closely linked to the social changes triggered by the Coronavirus pandemic. This event takes place across multiple venues.

Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity: Oct 22th – Jan 29th 2023

Take a short trip outside of Berlin to the beautiful city of Potsdam and immerse yourself in the fantastical world of the surrealist masters. The exhibition can be found at the Museum Barberini and takes a deep dive into the role and influence of magic and esotericism in the surrealist movement. The exhibition comprises around 90 works by more than 20 artists. The Barberini shows works by Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dalí, Paul Delvaux, Max Ernst, Leonor Fini, Kurt Seligmann, Yves Tanguy, Dorothea Tanning and Victor Brauner, among others.

International Green Week: 20th – 29th January 2023

Follow your stomach to the Berlin Messe indulge in delicious culinary treats from all over the globe. The International Green Week Berlin is one of the most traditional Berlin trade fairs and one of the best-known events in Germany. The trade fair was established in 1926. Ever since, food producers from all over the world have utilized the IGW to introduce new products, to test market food and establish brand identities. In addition to food and beverage stands, the IGW also features commercial and non-commercial agricultural, forestry, and landscaping exhibits. The Flower hall is a particular highlight.

Days of Dance Berlin: 5th – 21st January 2023

Days of Dance (Tanztage) is a contemporary dance festival focusing on the discovery and support of up-and-coming choreographers and dancers based in Berlin. Performances include elements of the visual arts, sounds, music and language, others are inspired by current political events. Pop-cultural references and genres such as striptease and breakdance, club culture, talk shows and pop music are part of the festival too.
