Alternative Berlin’s Top Five For March

Spring is in the air! We’ve spotted some elusive blue sky over Berlin recently and as the weather gets brighter the atmosphere in the city changes too. Nothing feels better than being in Berlin at the start of a season that brings some sunshine. The whole city is buzzing! Although we run tours all year round, the better the weather the busier we get, so it’s a good idea to book ahead. We also run private tours for groups so just drop us a line if there’s a few of you looking for a unique experience. As always, there’s a lot going on! So here at alternative Berlin HQ we’re bringing you our pick of this months must attend events.

Dirrty Cabaret – Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 41, March 10th

Don’t bring your parents to this one. So wrong but so right, DIRRTY hosts a night of unsanitary entertainment from the dirtiest performers from around the world. Including comedy, burlesque, boylesque, cabaret, magic, and circus acts, nothing is too dirrty for this late night underground variety show. You’ll get a packed comedy cabaret show, performed in English followed by a dirrty HIP HOP/RNB Dance party playing all your favourite 90/00s classics. With free shots and condoms included, you can get your tickets over at www.liveinberlin.co, a little bird told us there is also a competition up on the website to win free tickets! Get on it, and decide now if you’re brave enough to sit in the front row.

Abends im Museum – Brachiosaurus und T. Rex – Invalidenstraße 43, March 15th

This special night at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin pays special attention to the awesome Brachiosaurus and T.Rex skeletons currently on display. Special tours will run in English and German so you have the chance to find out more about these gigantic lizards. This is a great chance to see the museum in the evening and expand your dino-knowledge. Bonus points if you whistle the Jurassic Park theme tune throughout.

Berlin Punk Rock Market #2 – Revaler Str. 99, March 19th

After the raging success of the first event, Cassiopeia is once again playing host to this sub-cultural flea market featuring records, clothes, cool brands, second hand items and lots of other goodies! It’s only 1 euro admission and there is a real rock n roll party atmosphere. Shop for cool stuff (you know you NEED more studs for your leather jacket) stay for the cocktails and killer music. If you want to see the puck rock community alive and well in Berlin, this is where it’s gonna be!

The House Of Red Doors #8 – Black Magick – Alt-Stralau 70, March 23rd

Red doors

It may only be their 8th party, but Bad Bruises have created an iconic Berlin event, and it keeps going from strength to strength. Party the night away at Salon Zu Wilden Renate in a very specially curated environment. Not for the faint of heart, these nights blend immersive theatre with music and sex. Each event has a theme, and you can bet they are going to go to town with this night, this time inspired by black magick. There will be consequences for NOT dabbling with the occult. If you’re ready to get sacrificed on the alter of Berlin night life, whilst rubbing shoulders (and possibly a lot more) with Berlins performance art elite you shouldn’t miss this.

Indian Nightmare Record Release Show – Revaler Str. 99, April 1st

Okay, this one is April 1st, but we’re getting in early because the jokes on you if you miss it (see what we did there?) Hosted by Systremma and the infamous Paranoid Club at the awesome Urban Spree, this night will be FUN. Indian Nightmare play pure and raw speed metal punk, with their own unique twist. They’re insane live and this record launch will turn into one hell of an after party. This is real live alternative Berlin culture and a guaranteed good time. You’d be a FOOL to miss it (again, we just can’t help it)
